Jan. 1, 2017, The Atlanta Falcons capped off what was a spectacular season, defeating the New Orleans Saints 38-32. Matt Ryan made a strong push for league MVP, throwing for 235 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers in the first half. Julio Jones was big for the birds, despite a lingering toe injury, catching seven passes for 96 yards and a score. Devonta Freeman reached the 1,000 yard mark for the second time in back to back seasons, rushing for 96 yards and a touchdown. Tevin Coleman, Justin Hardy and Mohamed Sanu all chipped in with touchdown catches in the redzone.
The Falcons’ offense has been firing on all cylinders and now they are one of the eight most prolific offenses in NFL history. The birds have also secured the number two seed and a first round bye in the playoffs, which gives them time to rest and recover from injuries.
The time is now Falcon fans. Matty Ice is 1-4 in the playoffs, and many are expecting the home team to crash and burn. I believe this season is different. The Falcons finished with an 11-5 record, (which I predicted) with the toughest schedule in the league. The birds also have the number one offense in the NFL and a defense that has been improving over the last four weeks. Look for Matt Ryan and that vaunted Atlanta offense and defense to be present throughout the playoffs. Austin Hooper will be key in many of our games and so will our new weapon Taylor Gabriel.
My predictions for the Falcons Playoff Run:
I am predicting that the Falcons take on the Seattle Seahawks in the division round and the birds will win comfortably (35-14). Matt Ryan will throw for 400 yards and 3tds. Our defense will be big in the game, returning two interceptions off picks thrown by Russell Wilson (if he is healthy). Austin Hooper will have a three catches for 54 yards and a score. Levine Toilolo will be making clutch catches all game. Julio Jones will get his revenge on Richard Sherman giving the controversial cornerback 10 catches for 200 yards and two scores.
The birds will then take on the Dallas Cowboys at Jerry World in the NFC Championship game. Look for our offense to play keep away from Dak Prescott and company. Coleman and Freeman will be big running the ball in this game both scoring touchdowns and Mohamed Sanu will give us the go ahead touchdown. Jones will have an early score in the game. The birds edge out America’s team (28-20).
Finally, the birds will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, who will just be coming off an upset victory at Gillette Stadium, in Super Bowl LI (51). The Falcons will beat the Steelers (41-31) to win the chip. Ryan will be big in this game, throwing for 400 yards and four touchdowns. Jones will catch 5 passes for 130 yards and 2 tds. Freeman will rush for a touchdown. Josh Perkins will score a late touchdown putting the birds up three points and Taylor Gabriel will catch a 79 yard go ahead touchdown pass to push the Falcons to victory. Matt Bryant will kick two field goals. Ryan will have captured the regular season MVP and the Superbowl MVP. Book it!
